2014 Meetings and News
2014 club meetings! All of the club’s meetings for 2014 are complete. The first club meeting of the year, in Redmond, was held on January 21, 2014, and the last meeting was held on December 16, 2014, also in Redmond. Starting in January 2014, the club alternates meetings between Redmond and Bend, except that both the June and September meetings were in Bend.
Reminder – Meeting Locations! Beginning in January 2014, the BCCOCO meets alternate months in Redmond and Bend, except as noted above. All meetings are held on the 3rd Tuesday unless otherwise announced. The Redmond location for every other meeting has been announced. There are usually no club meetings in July or August.
The monthly meeting on December 16, 2014, in Redmond featured the annual holiday party and potluck, club elections for 2015 club officers, and a “fun shirt/costume” contest! In addition, Paul spoke about “security and collection insurance,” giving some good information and advice. It was an excellent meeting! At the monthly meeting on November 18, 2014, in Bend, Eric spoke about “Getting ready (including collector exhibits) for the ANA National Money Show in Portland.”
The October monthly meeting was cancelled.
The monthly meeting on September 16, 2014, in Bend featured Walter Troutman speaking about his interesting experiences at the ANA Summer Seminar in Colorado Springs, where he took a counterfeit detection class. Mike from Mountain High Coin also provided some interesting commentary on current coin market conditions.
The monthly meeting on June 17, 2014, in Bend featured a special program on “Tokens, medals and exonumia.” Thanks to everyone who participated.
The delayed May 27, 2014, meeting in Redmond featured an informal buy, sell and trade session. Photo above: Smokey Bear silver medals, part of a set that was never completed due to the death of the artist. Please bring your interesting items, including especially tokens and medals, to the June club meeting in Bend.
The April 15, 2014, meeting in Bend featured Mike from Mountain High Coin with an informative question & answer session. In addition, a few scanned photographic slides of U.S. coins were digitally projected.

The March 18, 2014, meeting in Redmond featured Keith talking about “The Internet and Coins,” and Paul discussing the ANA’s National Coin Week 20-question trivia challenge.
The February 18, 2014, meeting in Bend featured an interesting talk by Ken M. about the use of “magnets in counterfeit detection.” Thanks, Ken!
The January 21, 2014, meeting was the club’s first regular meeting at the Redmond location. Paul spoke about “Collecting Eisenhower Dollars,” emphasizing the many different varieties that have been identified over the years, and the fact that “Ike” dollars are still readily available.
